- Minds On: (20 minutes)
- Students are to hand in their paragraphs on Act 1, Scene of Macbeth:
- The order is final draft on top, followed by rough draft, and annotated passage.
- Hand out the personal information form for the students to complete.
- Collect completed forms. Remind students to answer questions on both sides.
- Students are to hand in their paragraphs on Act 1, Scene of Macbeth:
- Hands On: (50 minutes)
- Write the following definition on the blackboard: "Paradox: two opposite and contradictory conditions appear to be equally true"
- Hand out the questions on Act 1, Scene 3
- Inform students that they are to work independently to complete the reflection questions, writing in full sentences.
- Students are to read Act 1, Scene 3 (first reading was assigned for homework yesterday) and to answer the three questions on the handout in the space provided
- On the BACK of the question page. Have the students write ONE example of an explicit stage direction and ONE example of an implicit stage direction. Explain how each one help us to interpret the character’s actions, feelings, and/or state of mind.
