- Students are to read close reading instructions on page 25 of the style guide and to examine the exemplar on page 26.Please read these instructions aloud to them.

- Students are to use the instructions on page 25 to annotate the prologue.
- Student may use the dictionaries (on shelf beside teacher desk) to look up the meaning of unfamiliar words and they may use the footnotes in their books to help decode the text.
- Consolidation: (10-15 minutes)
- Handout the graphic organizer page: Students are to complete in point form the KWL chart for the prologue: What I Know, What I Wonder, What I predict will happen next, and What I Learnt.
- Share the following examples for completing the chart:I know the play is set in Verona, Italy, I wonder what makes Verona so “fair”?, I predict that the citizens of Verona will be upset by the families’ feud, I learnt that even a so-called nice or “fair” town can be an unsafe place to live.
